Bio

Lorenzo Tugnoli is a freelance photographer based in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Born in 1979, he is a self-taught documentary photographer who’s work focuses on Asia and the Middle East.

Lorenzo worked as assistant photographer for Chien-Chi Chang and Christopher Anderson at Magnum in New York. He later moved to Afghanistan where he works for international magazines and development organizations.

His work has been published by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time Magazine, The Guardian, Espresso, D di Donna, Internazionale, Io Donna, Vanity Fair and Domus.

In 2010 he published a photo book for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, documenting their development projects in northern Afghanistan.

In 2011 he published a photo book for UNFPA, following the rollout of the Afghanistan National Census.
