There is an ancient Zen meditation technique that can be equally applied to archery, drawing or the composition of short poems.
In each of these disciplines, as in photography, you have to master the technique and maintain concentration. By annulling the self in the practice of the discipline, we can unleash a creativity that comes from the depths of our being.
Thought no longer intervenes/interferes, our gestures become fluid and our inner awareness finds a direct outlet for expression.
These photographs are the result of a mental exercise in which I sought to tap into a primitive creativity.
I walked through the streets of the city where I was born, in the liquid tranquility of the mist and the darkness, in search of that inner silence that leads to the depths of my own being.
The work was produced by the municipality of Lugo, Italy.
